AOL cut jobs in its corporate communications office in late January, including employees at its Dulles headquarters.
The company also hired Ted Cahall as executive vice president of the Platforms unit. Cahall will oversee AOL Search, e-commerce, publishing platform and tools, MapQuest and other local-based services. Cahall will work out of Dulles and report to AOL President and COO Ron Grant.
Before joining AOL, Cahall was executive vice president and COO of Classmates.com. He was also executive vice president of the United Online Web Services division, overseeing the company's various web-hosting brands including Freeservers.com and photo sharing service PhotoSite.
Vollmer Associates, a national engineering, architecture, landscape architecture and planning firm, named Janice Buchko an associate. She is regional manager of the Virginia and West Virginia region and oversees the administrative and financial functions in the Alexandria, Winchester, Leesburg and Morgantown, WV, branches of Vollmer Associates. Buchko also oversees human resources and insurance administration in branch and corporate offices.
David Hughes, former editor of Loudoun Business, has been named director of corporate communications of Roadstar Internet in Leesburg.
