Local organizations and businesses are planning job fairs to help those left unemployed after Pillowtex Corp.'s bankruptcy. In addition, Pillowtex's Web site, www.pillowtex.com, has job listings from other companies. Click on "job opportunities" under the "quick links" bar.
• From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, applicants can attend the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce's Hope Job Fair at Lowe's Motor Speedway. So far, 112 employers have signed up to participate.

• The Charlotte Observer's job fair will be Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the food court of Carolina Mall in Concord. So far, 42 employers are signed up, and organizers are expecting many more. Employers must reserve spots by Aug. 22; call Glenn Grant, (704) 786-2195.
