Employment is a Key Issue to Michigan VotersAssociated Press
July 27, 2004
Boston - Governor Granholm says she thinks employment issues trump concerns about the war in the minds of voters in her state.
That's as delegates descend on Boston for the Democratic National Convention.
Michigan's unemployment rate dropped slightly in June to six-point-five percent, one-tenth of a percentage point lower than the previous month.
But the state continued to lose manufacturing jobs, according to state figures.
The national average was five-point-six percent.
Granholm also says she hopes the convention helps voters get a sense of what Democratic candidate John Kerry is like as a person.
