WASHINGTON-- Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Hector V. Barreto today lauded the new employment numbers signaling that the number of workers on U.S. payrolls grew by 57,000 last month.
The following statement was issued:
"The numbers released today are further proof that the economy is coming back. The 57,000 new jobs created are a shot in the arm for small businesses throughout the country, and a sign that President Bush's Jobs and Growth Act is working. We need to continue this progress so that every American who wants to work can find a job.
"There is still more to be done. We can create more jobs for small business if Congress enacts President Bush's Six Point Plan for the Economy -- making health care costs affordable and predictable, reducing frivolous lawsuits and ensuring a reliable and affordable energy supply for small businesses."
