Airline Employment Declines

Wichita Business Journal

September 20, 2006

U.S. airlines employ 5.9 percent fewer workers than they did a year ago, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reports.

The figures are based on comparing July 2006 payrolls to July 2005 and counting every two part-timers as one full-timer.

It was the 19th consecutive month that full-time equivalent employee levels for the scheduled passenger carriers declined compared to the same month of the previous year.
